Odds and Ends

Finally, after many late nights and even one all-nighter, my CSS Reboot offering is about 2 or 3 hours away from completion. Legend. I've crossed quite a few boundaries in the design and coding of this site and I'm happy with where I am currently in my skills. I can't wait to get all your guys feedback on the new design. I've aimed this site a bit more towards my actually web design business but the blog ...

DHTML version of Mac OS X

I haven't had any experience in DHTML or Javascript but I've seen some pretty good examples of its usage in creating 'movable' websites and creating some nice fluid effects without having to use Flash. This is however, the best example of DHTML & Java that I've seen. They've created a site that has a Mac OS X interface, complete with customized 'right-click' menu and that funky rollover menu at the bottom of the screen. Very ...

Are Mullets Back In?

In preparation for summer, I recently dusted off my gym card and took an apprehensive drive to the local sweat parlour. I say apprehensive because it'd been a while since my last workout and I always have these vision of tripping on the treadmill, dropping a weight on my face or getting stuck in one of those workout death machines. 15 minutes into my rowing session and I was feeling a bit better, having avoided any mishaps thus far. ...

Party Tricks

Most people have one right? I had a friend, Kirsten, who was able to put an entire egg (in the shell) into her mouth and close her jaw without breaking the egg. Quite impressive. The guys especially loved that one. Personally, since school days I've had a party trick that never fails to amaze. I put my open hand flat on a chopping board with fingers spread wide. Then I take a sharp steak knife and jab the knife in ...

Freaky Friday

Every school had them. You can remember them too, I'm sure...: The geeks at school that knew this supposedly impossible mind reading tricks. I remember them, and they pissed me off because I could never understand how it worked. I'm sure that like with most tricks, there's a common principle thats being applied and which is unknown to most people and thus seems very clever. This is the trick i'm talking about. Can you figure out how it works? I ...

Servistar is an Oxymoron

I've always been a stickler for customer service. Whether you're a petrol pump attendant or a CEO, a pleasant greeting and a smile can go a long way. I think it comes largely from the 2 years I worked as a waiter at a pizza joint called St Elmo's. I really leart a lot there from both personal experiences and the training we recieved. As a result, I've become very sensitive to trying my best to give good, nah, incredible customer ...

Weekend Blues

Well its Sunday morning and I have a headache that could cripple a small country. No, it wasn't due to last nights debauchery fun evening at yet another successful Fireklub event. Rather its due to my inability to overcome this niggling headcold. Damn my weak immune system. Fireklub last night was incredible, naturally. The wind unfortunately forced the fires to be downsized because of the resulting spark showers. But nonetheless the bands and shows were brilliant. I was quite impressed ...
