Billabong Pro 2005
Round Two of the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay 2005 started this morning on the second day of the event waiting period. Surf this morning is a little smaller at 3-4 foot, but very nice glassy waves are reeling down the Supers line up. Contest Director Mike Parsons has evaluated the wave forecast provided by Surfline.com, and the decision is to make the most of these great conditions.
The four VZ wildcard qualifiers, Shaun Payne, Ian Walsh, Damien Fahrenfort and Sean Holmes, had another chance to advance further in the main event when they surfed against the reseeded top 44 World Championship Tour surfers who placed second or third in yesterday’s first round heats.
Upset of the day must go to local Damien Fahrenfort who has knocked former ASP world champion CJ Hobgood out of the event. Shaun Payne unfortunately lost to Trent Munro, and Sean Holmes went down to Cory Lopez. The Results from Round One and Round Two heats completed are available here.
