Samples from popular songs

When it comes to music, we’re all used to covers and samples by now. Whether your flava is :: flinging yourself from a bar counter into a mosh pit/wearing the floor away to the strobes/grinding up yo’ steezy (style) while drinkin’ yo’ jeezy (gin and juice) in da’ heezy (hood), you’ll hear cover versions of older songs or samples used to make new songs more interesting. I’m sure you’ll agree though that it happens more than ever these …

Abba yields to Madge

While driving along in the silence of my car yesterday I found myself tapping my steering wheel (my driver was off yesterday, herpes you know) and incohesively mumbling “gim… gi… man aft… midnight…”. “Man after midnight? Holy condom” I thought. What was I singing? Abba aint taken kindly to round these parts? Was I going mental? I did just see a poster of Tom Cruise a second ago, maybe that was it. And then it struck me, Madonna had just …

Emineminem has a Pee Pee

I’m really proud of the Emminem for his lyrics to the song “Ass like that”. If Owen Wilson is the Butterscoth Stallion then Emminem is the “White Rat”. Some of the song goes:

I don’t believe it, it’s almost too good to be true
I ain’t never seen an ass like that
The way you move it, you make my pee pee go
Doing, doing, doing

Thanks Enema M, that’s beautiful. Really beautiful.

Has anyone heard the word “Pee Pee” since …

Death of Rock Star

I’m afraid i’ve been in denial about this for some time, but truth is we all saw the death of Gwen Stefani in the making. Just like addiction to crack can walk you down the long dark alley of destruction and leave you selling your body to perverts for another fix :: so the addiction to fame can walk you down the long dark alley of lost identity and leave you selling your soul to lab rats for another fix.

Ever …

Alanis Morissette does a Seal…

Song!

If there’s one thing we all hate, it’s gotta be a bad artist doing a bad cover song. This, isn’t one of those. I gotta give props to Alanis for her cover of “Crazy” originally by the very intriguing artist, Seal. Arf arf.

Alanis covers Seal, Crazy

Even more intriguing is who he’s married to. Heidi Klum.

- Arf arf :: Tried to find some pics …

Jason Mraz - A-Z

I had to share. I’ve just downloaded acquired the new Jason Mraz album called “A-Z” and I’m just as impressed as when I heard his first offering to the music world.

The guy with too many consonants in his surname is back with more funky tunes and his unmistakable style. “Geek in the pink” is so far one of my favorites. Don’t read too much into that one. Its just a song name people. “Life is wonderful” and “Mr …

CD - Sophie Zelmani

My housemate passed on a cd to me last night with cherade-like “sounds-like” warnings of Norah Jones and the like.

Surprisingly its really nice.

I remarked that its somewhat reminescent of ‘3am roadtrip’ kind of music. So if you’re looking for something to get you amped for a skate session, this isn’t the cd for you.

If however, you’re looking to score some points for the lady, or you’re wanting to put a cd on for the evening and not worry about …

Sony busted for Payola

No, before you run off and grab yourself a knife, fork and bib, payola is not to be confused with paella…a lovely dish with a bunch of stuff in it that I couldn’t care to remember because it has nothing to do with this article.
No.. payola is defined by history-of-rock.com as the follows:

In a bubble of ignorance

In the wake of Marks post, I thought I’d post this link to James Nachtwey’s photographic work.

“I have been a witness, and these pictures are my testimony. The events I have recorded should not be forgotten and must not be repeated.”

Sad to say, there is no end. In the words of U.N.K.L.E. from their song Eye for an Eye:

Run, run, run, but you sure can’t hide

Does our rule benefit the earth?
Does it help the grass to grow? The …

Michael Franti

As we sit in front of our computers, earphones jamming tunes to keep our subconcious busy whilst we figure out CSS hacks and PHP includes, most of us remain oblivious to the conflicts that many are going through. The majority of us are unaware of the hassles that people have to endure everyday.

Michael Franti is all to aware of these problems and while we’re ranting and raving about our screwed up pizza deliver order, Michael is writing song lyrics …
