How far do you take customer service?

Just about every job on the market nowadays, regardless of industry or sector, will require you to be involved in customer service in some form or another. Maybe you’re dealing one-on-one with a customer, or you’re answering the phone between oil changes…. at some point, you’re going to have to deal with the people who’re paying you to perform a service. How do you handle these interactions?

My first job was that of a waiter at a St Elmo’s pizza shop. …

Compliance vs Values

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for progress and being compliant with incoming laws and new trends in the corporate world. However, one thing that I cannot STAND is incompetance.

One day you’re happily typing away sending and receiving external emails, then the next day you don’t receive and people start smsing or calling asking why you haven’t responded to their urgent emails. We’ve just brought a few new service providers on team with our company. …

Sahara Computers aren’t in stock

What is it with freggan computer suppliers who never have anything in stock? Why call yourself a computer supplier if you cannot make up a full computer because you don’t have half the items in stock??

In 2 years of buying from Sahara Computers in Port Elizabeth, I have been able to order a full computer once! Every single other time I’ve called to order a computer from them (about once every 2 to …

V&A Waterfront Security

3 Weeks of holiday couldn’t go by without having a single reason for ranting now could it? Hardly. So out of the 3 or 4 kak customer service experiences I had in Cape Town, by far the most infuriating was had in dealing with a member of the security staff at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.

Hellkom! (for Mark)

Why can’t we all just get along? Why is there always a big fat bully in the neighbourhood who is hell bent on taking your humble earnings!?!
And what’s to do about it? Cry to the heavens screaming “INJUSTICE!!!”? Haha, you’re kidding me!! The heaven’s are silent as a bird craps on your head as you fall to your knees pleading for help! We’re in telecoms hell! This is it!

HELLKOM

…plan for revenge…

Another anti-Telkom Ranting

Ok this is a serious rant post. I’ve bottled up these feelings for long enough, and although this post will probably solve the problem about as much as another facelift will help MJ, I need to vent.

Hands up everyone who is sick of having their country throttled by their government endorsed telecoms. Yeah I thought so.

Readers in US and UK are probably right now saying, “Huh? What?”, as they download 13 movies, surf the net, and do a 10 member …

Servistar is an Oxymoron

I’ve always been a stickler for customer service. Whether you’re a petrol pump attendant or a CEO, a pleasant greeting and a smile can go a long way. I think it comes largely from the 2 years I worked as a waiter at a pizza joint called St Elmo’s. I really leart a lot there from both personal experiences and the training we recieved.

As a result, I’ve become very sensitive to trying my best to give good, nah, incredible customer …
