Crime and Floaters
Well I must apologize for being so quiet in my blogging activities. Its been a hectic week or so in the life of me. On top of my duties at my current company, I’ve been saddled with a whack of work by my new company as I’ve unofficially already started working for them. So after my 10-5pm job, I race home and stuff in a couple of hours work for the new company. Keeping 2 bosses happy is quite a mission.
Yet amidst all the chaos that is my life, I’ve managed to make a few observations…
Firstly, I think PE is fast rivalling Johannesburg for its levels of crime. The offices at my current company were broken into on Friday last week. All the downstairs computers were stolen, as well as a collegues R25k Apple iBook. Fortunately though the servers weren’t stolen…that would’ve caused serious freggan issues. Maybe its just because its happening all around me all of a sudden, but I’ve never had such a frequent exposure to crime in all my life, than the 2 years I’ve been in Port Elizabeth.
Is there a sign on my back that I don’t know about? “steal from me”…
Secondly, I have serious issues with the name that HTH chose for their latest product. Ladies and Gents, I give you the HTH Floater.

Now I dunno about you, but when I hear the word floater…ESPECIALLY in the context of a swimming pool.. a whole different mental image comes to my head. I couldn’t even find a damned image of it, but when I hear floater, I’m immediately thinking about a chunk of poo bobbing around. Now I KNOW I’m not alone on this.
But come on… did no one at HTH spot the dangers in calling their device the pool floater? Come on now…
Anyways, for those that care, my new job is going well and the clients are well impressed with the work so far. The company I’m contracted to for the next few months is Brand Expansion. Their current site is in flash, but I’m working on putting that site into more SEO friendly HTML and CSS in the new site. Once I’ve completed the redesign of the site for the company I’m actually working for, I’ll post a link to their site and reveal the company name. :)
Exciting times huh? :)
