Diary of a guy working from his boss’ home in St Francis

Wednesday, 01 March 2006

  • 7:30am - Wake up
  • 7:40am - Go for a 3km run and a swim in the ocean
  • 8:20am - Get to my flat, shower
  • 8:40am - Go inside the main house, and pour a cup of fresh coffee
  • 8:50am - Sign onto MSN & Skype on my PC and my new Mac & get emails
  • 9:00am - Check the activity on my site & do the necessary moderations
  • 9:20am - Read my daily list of blog, news & gossip sites
  • 9:40am - Check my to do list and get started on the work at hand
  • 11:00am (ish) - Have breakfast which is usually Special K or some toast & probably more coffee
  • 11:20am - Back to work until lunch
  • 1:30pm - Lunch. Lately I’ve been enjoying the awesome chicken wraps from a bakery here in St Francis called Viking Bakery. Yumi
  • 2:00pm - Back to work
  • 5:30pm - Skype with overseas clients to cover the work accomplished during the day
  • 6:00pm - Head down to the river with my boss & his wife for some fly-fishing, and depending on the weather, a swim in the river
  • 7:00pm - Pull the boat into the jetty by the Big Time Taverna - a greek restaurant that serves the most phenomenal shwarma you’ll ever taste. The restaurant has its own jetty that boat owners use… place your order and then sail down the canals to pick it up. Stellar.
  • 7:30pm - Back to the office to clear up a few odds and ends and perhaps call a few overseas friends with SkypeOut
  • 8:30pm - Check out DSTV and perhaps watch a show here or there
  • 10:00pm - Check for mails… Check for friends on IM
  • 11:00pm - Retire to bed
  • Not too bad eh? I could really get used to life here in St Francis. I’d soooo love to move into the flat at my boss’ house. The atmosphere here in St Francis is a permanent holiday vibe. Doesn’t even feel like you’re at work. However, unfortunately I have binding responsibilities in Port Elizabeth for at least the next year so I’ll have to stick it out for now.

It’s only about an hour from PE, so I’ll definately be trekking out here regularly :D
