Eish, lets hear it for a hiatus
Hiatus: suspension, an interruption in the intensity or amount of something
Ok so dang, I know… its been a while, but I got a new design thats about 70% or so done and I got loads of ideas and stuff I wanna try out in the coming months. Most of the writers on The Yellow Llama have become otherwise involved so for the next while, I’ll more than likely be the only guy writing.
So whats been happening?
Well, YellowLlama author, Philip, eventually managed to launch Systemic Descent. Essentially, its a website about anything and everything diving related. From legislations, to awesome dive locations and a bunch more. He’s got some big names involved in the site in terms of authors etc and I’m looking forward to see it grow.
You know what they say about a mechanic and his car right? Or a plumber and his toilet? Well, finally, the web design company i work for got a website. Eventually. Handcrafted Webs is officially online… well actually, it always had a website, but it excelled to levels of kakkness that I hadn’t seen for quite a while :P So I rolled up my sleeves one day and got stuck into it and voila, we have a website. Its static - no CMS/Blog etc, but at least its a half descent web presence that we’ll use to bide our time for now.
We’ve managed to launch a large chunk of the website network of one of our US Clients, Brand Expansion. Brand Expansion are essentially franchise brokers - selling franchises on behalf of the franchisor. Difference is that they are in the process of developing a monstrous network of websites all using a custom made CRM that is used to track & develop leads. They’re sitting on a gold-mine and I’m looking forward to seeing them explode onto the franchise scene. The part of the network that was recently launched, were 29 websites, each focused on an individual franchise industry. For example, Automotive Franchises, Hairstyling Franchises, Food & Restaurant Franchises and 26 others. These initial sites are all static and tied into the CRM, but soon we’re going to be launching the big daddy of these sites which has been developped using what is now, probably the most tweaked Wordpress Installation you’ll ever see!… Watch this space for more developments.
Other projects I’m currently working on are content for a huge travel site, designs for a 2010 World Cup Accommodation site, a site for a company that does awesome things with silicon and microchips, a proposal for a leading South African vehicle group and a number of others. Details on these are under wraps for now, but I’ll keep ya’ll posted as each project gets launched.
