Fame is relative

I was chillin’ like a villian on the couch the other day while the world spun around and something hit me like a dump truck. At first I tried to get the license plate but when I realised that it wasn’t even garbage day it occured to me that it must have been something else that hit me. And it was…

So often famous people come and go, some flimsy shooting stars while others seem to have the substance to keep them in the game forever. Some people you see but you have no clue or desire to know just why the hell they’re famous in the first place.

So anyway there I was sitting on the couch looking all kewl, like I said, and finally I found out why Nicole Richie is famous :: Coz of her daddy. Now maybe i’m the last person in the world to find this out, but it occured to me at that point that there are many famous people that you might not know are connected. Here’s a few :: starting with Ms Richie.

Nicole Richie, who’s father is Lionel Richie

The very talented Joaquin Phoenix, is the brother of the very dead River Phoenix. Which I thought was quite appropriate since the Phoenix is actually the mythical bird of flames that rises up from the ashes, symbolising of course, re-birth and rejuvenation. Which is what Joaquin has done for the family fame since the sad death of his brother.

How about a slightly more obvious Eagle-eye and Neneh Cherry

Then there’s Ben Affleck who’s family deny being related to him at all and of course his good friend Matt Damon, who I SERIOUSLY doubt IS actually related to… anyone at all.

How about usually bad guy John Voigt and ultra lippy famo daughter Angelina Jolie

Very famous Julia Roberts is the sister of not so very famous Eric Roberts

And a slightly more surprising :: Sean Penn :: brother of recently deceased Chris Penn who you might recognise from… absolutely no movie at all

I also remember someone telling me that uber chilled music legend Finaly Quay had a famous relative but I can’t remember who it is, so if you know, please update.

I find this stuff really interesting. In fact if you look through Hollywood you’ll find that a great deal of famous actors and actresses got involved in the business through famous relatives.
