Foolishness vs Incompetence
What is the height of foolishness? Scenario: You have a newborn baby. You need to step into a shop. Hmm…what do you do? Take the baby with you into the shop (like any normal, sensible parent), or stop the first stranger who comes along who might “look trustworthy” and plonk the child into their arms. This is how the story played out for one Johannesburg woman and her 10-day old baby when she chose option B. “What resulted?” you might ask. Well, to everyone’s tremendous surprise, the baby was abducted. *Gasp* I mean, what the hell did she think would happen? In this day and age you can’t trust perfect strangers with a freagan 20-cent coin, never mind an infant! To drop a few names of people who were said to “look trustworthy” would be Jeffrey Dahmer, David Berkowitz and even Michael Jackson. (Look how those scenarios played out). Considering the spate of child abductions/molestations prevalent today, you would think parents would be slightly shrewder when leaving their kids in someone else’s care.
Could the situation get any worse? Unbelievably, it did. For once surveillance systems implemented to counter crime and protect our upstanding citizens, worked in our favour. A security camera was able to record footage of the suspect with the baby. By means of this footage, the mother of the young ‘un was able to positively identify the suspect as the person whom she’d handed her infant to. “Great!” you might add. ERRRR! Wrong again. A policeman “inadvertently” deleted the footage.
It’s instances like these that make us ask the perpetual question: “What is this world coming to?” Eisshh…
Dude, a 65 year old priest was arrested in green point the other day for having molested like 10 boys. One family trusted and respected him so much that they left their son with him for “safe keeping” when they went overseas. Needless to say he took advantage. Now he’s serving a SUSPENDED sentence (!!!) in other words, he’s not serving anything. And he has to keep doing his job?!?!?!? If this was Iran they would have cut his fireman off, but then if this was Iran, there wouldn’t be any catholic priests…
Uh Dale… The above post wasn’t written by me… dude
