Google Earth

Woweeee!

Ok so this is officially the coolest thing I’ve seen all year. Google Earth is a fantastic little program that allows you to zoom from a view of the globe, all the way down to street level.

Google Earth

The satellite maps are updated quite regularly so if its cloudy over your city, try again later.

Its incredible, but as the novelty wears off, you gotta wonder how this affects personal privacy issues, I mean the images are pretty clear. If this kind of stuff is available for public usage, imagine the kind of stuff the government has access to.

Ag stuff it, how cool is this though!! Woohoo…

I wonder what my girlfriends doing…. *clickety*

I just had a look at Adelboden in Switzerland. This is soo cool!

Google Earth is cool. But Nasa Released World Wind earlier, last year in fact. World Wind is just as robust and includes 3D bump mapping of the terrain. Not to mention you can use any of World Wind’s content under GPL!

The Google app has ‘bump mapping’ for terrain too.. PLUS!! If you have a look at New York, you can enable ‘buildling’s and you can navigate inbetween the buildlings in New York!

Dude, I would have done much better at geography if he had this flave on my home PC. Kids today HAVE NO EXCUSE to be dumb anymore. Poor bastards. Everything is just a click away. We had to walk to the library and go through through encyclopedia Brittanica. Actually we had a set at home that my dad paid thousands for. It was called Funk and Wagnels. And that’s where I believe I got my foundations of education.

[…] Haha… The evil monks over in South Korea must’ve soiled their shorts when, whilst surfing the globe with Google Earth, they discovered there for everyone to see was their supposedly secret army base. […]
