I’m Engaged!!!

Finally… the day that I’ve been waiting for my entire life and then some. The love of my universe said yes to my proposal, and its official, I’m engaged. :)

I wanted nothing more, than to have a unique proposal. Its probably the most important question most guys will ask, other than.. “Is it mine??”… so I really wanted it to be unique and special and like no other.

So here’s what I did…

Firstly, I told organized with my father-in-law-to-be that he tell Nicole she needs to go to Johannesburg with her mother for the weekend. She hates Jozi and was rueing this trip for the whole week.

Surprise #1 was that I arrived at the airport, bag in hand, and told her that I was going with her…

Surprise #2 came when the captain said, ‘Welcome on this flight to Cape Town’… not Jozi.

Before we flew, I arranged with the airhostesses of our Nationwide flight to hand deliver a card & a PS chocolate bar to her. They used their own initiative to include in that delivery, a beautiful red rose and 2 bottles of champagne. 10 points to Nationwide airlines for this. Surprise #3.

Then on Saturday, after a business meeting, I took Nicole to the aquarium to check out the fishes etc. I made previous plans with the diver at the aquarium - I’d given him 4 sheets of laminated A4 paper that he had to show her… from inside the shark tank. So he climbed into the tank, much to the amazement of Nicole and swam around a bit and then came up to the window and waved. He turned over the first piece of paper which had her name on it. She was shocked, needless to say, but it was when he flipped through the rest of the pages that the penny dropped. When she turned to me, I was down on 1 knee, ring in hand, and I asked her if she’d marry me.

Surprise #4.

Surprise #5 was that her sister and brother-in-law had flown down to Cape Town and then met us for dinner afterwards.

The last surprise, #6, was arranging with all her friends in Cape Town to say that they were away on holiday (not!). After dinner we went to Primi Piatti and surprise!.. there sat all her friends waiting for her with roses & cards etc…

I wanted the perfect engagement weekend, for my perfect lady… my fiance… and I think I might just have achieved it :)
