My Trip
So I’m back from my quest across the seas. That was one amazing trip. I flew to Durban where I attended my company’s gala event at the Durban ICC and received my Golden Umbrella Award followed by tons of photos…. I felt like that chick who’d been flashy-thingied in Men in Black. We set sail for Bazaruto on Monday afternoon. Everyone was ready to party and dancing on the deck as we departed Durban harbour. The transformation was astounding. Not two hours later, they were dropping like flies. More and more people became seasick and it wasn’t a pretty sight. By dinner time about a third of 800 passengers had retired to their cabins and were either sick as a dog or passed out from hours of being sick as a dog. I did okay. I took tons of those motion sickness pills (I think there’s a limit and I’m sure I surpassed it by lunchtime on Monday) and mixed it with a bit of alcohol and I was out for the count. Magic!!!
We were advised that we had unusually turbulent ocean conditions, which basically meant you can expect to feel this crappy until we find calmer seas. Due to a cyclone (just my luck, ey?) off the coast of Madagascar (I like to move it, move it…), we had to drop anchor in the Bay of Maputo and our plans had to change. We did, however, get to visit the uninhabited Portugese Island as well as the Island of Inhaca (for an extra $15.00. It was stunning!!!
There were themed evenings every night (one formal captain’s dinner – and one tropical evening) and we partied into the wee hours of the morning. There were shows with four stunning cabaret girls (its amazing what you can do with a piece of floss and a sequence), magic shows, comedians, karaoke, and games such as novel quest were played.
All-in-all I had an amazing time. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I wouldn’t mind doing it ALL again!!
