SAA Flight 621
I don’t get to fly that often, so when I scored a nice website deal last week, I decided to fly to Cape Town for the wknd. I haven’t seen my folks and friends in the mother city for quite a while now, so why not…
Naturally I was quite excited, but I managed to restrain myself from looking like an ethiopian kid at a buffet. As I boarded the plane I couldn’t help but notice the captain in his cockpit working on a laptop. No doubt he was just squeezing in a quick session of Flight Simulator to work on those windy take-off’s. Ok, I can dig.
Then once I had been suitably seated, by the window, baggage ’safely stored in the overhead compartments’, I settled down and had a look around. I was seated to the token chronically-scared-of-flying woman…yay. As she gripped the armrests with vigor, I reassured her that we wouldn’t be taking off for a while still. That didn’t seem to work. Dammit I just wanted a piece of the armrest. The ettiquete of some people, I tell you its terrible.
Fortunately, we had our airhostesses. Gary, Stephan and Michael were ever so helpful as they pranced down the isles, winking at each other. *shudder*. I had to chuckle as Gary did his pointing-out-the-exits routine with the flair of a ballerina on opening night. Hey, job satisfaction is what its all about huh?
Other than that, the flight was uneventful, the trip was wonderful and it’s great to be home again.
