Show business is a farce
What is it about Hollywood that the general public find so captivating? I’m sorry but I just don’t get it.

I spent a few, now wasted minutes watching the academy awards, red carpet melee yesterday, and I gotta be honest… those E entertainment people and others like them really need something better to occupy their time. These peoples lives revolve around the stars. Their very being…the essence of their lives and probably even their souls, is to follow the lives of other people. What makes these guys so damned special?
I’m all for giving praise to talented people, don’t get me wrong. Whilst most of my friends swear blind hatred for Eminem, I’m well impressed with his ability to rhyme - to tell stories in rhyme. Granted he’s actions are mostly distasteful, but the guys got skills. No denying that. Hollywood actors and actresses are all very skilled. Their abilities to take on the persona of a character so different from their own personalities, and act out their stories… to be able to turn those skills on and off, is an incredible feat. But what I don’t understand is the way that people make these guys into Gods. All life, time.. the universe comes to stand-still in the eyes of these celebrity hags as they stand, mouths agape at an actress/actor walking by. When they’ve passed and the stupor wears off, they’re then captivated for the next half hour on every little detail of that celeb - the clothes, “who they are wearing”, the bling, the shoes, the hair, the presence, the makeup… Are their lives so shallow?
The Academy Awards is a whoop-tee-doo affair nowadays… The main event has moved outdoors to the pavement. Once indoors, the evening is pretty much over. The whole year is spent looking forward no to the time when your favorite actor receives his much deserved award, but rather when you get a chance to gawk at him/her walking down the red carpet… For those few minutes, their lives have purpose. What do these people do for the rest of the year?
Show business is a farce. Its no more about the skills and talents of the actor… Their recognition lies not in the ablity to portray a character, nowadays their sucesses are dependant on their lives off set - on who they’re wearing, what smoothy they’re drinking and “oh my gaaaawwwd, did you see those shoes she had on??”
Its a shame.
