The Waitron & the Spoon

A guy and his wife are having dinner and when the waiter approaches his table with the evening’s specials, he can’t help but notice that he, along with all the other waiters at this restaurant have a spoon in their top pocket.

“Sorry bud, but I have to ask: What’s with the spoons?”

“Well”, began the waiter, “our manager is a statistical analyst. He’s picked up that 22% of all people that come to this restaurant drop a utensil and 89% of the time, its the spoon. We carry a spoon with us so that it saves us having to make a trip to the kitchen. This saves about 72 cents per waiter per shift and you can imagine how much that saves us in a month!”

“Thats incredible! Well spotted!” says the man.

The man and his wife go on to enjoy their escargo and veal and when the waiter brings them the desert menu, he spots a small piece of string coming out of the waiter’s zipper.

“Sorry again, I hope you don’t mind me asking but what is with the string?”

“Ah yes” said the waiter, “once again, this is a strategy that our manager has thought out. We all use the bathroom at least twice per shift. So to save time and thereby money, this piece of string is tied to our member and when we take a leak, we use the string to pull it out and then we don’t have to wash our hands. This saves us 38 cents in time per waiter per shift and you can again imagine what this works out to per month.”

“Wow” says the man, “your boss is a genius. But if i may ask, how do you get it back in when you’re done?”

“Well” says the waiter, “I don’t know about the other guys, but I use the spoon.”
