Until its gone…
My house mate’s dad almost died last week. He unfortunately found himself in a ‘catch-22′ situation where he desperately needed a triple bypass but they couldn’t operate because he also has diabetes and his blood sugar was so low (3 instead of 13) that if they’d cut him for the operation, he’d've bled to death.
Dodge.
Fortunately his blood-sugar stabilized, they operated and he’s recovering.
Seeing what my mate and his family had to go through however really hit home how fragile is. He made the all-too-often-made comment “you don’t know what you have until its gone”. Its sad how so many of us have made such a statement, we all agree with it, we all sympathize and yet seldom do we act to make sure we have no regrets.
Life is fragile. Abilities & talents are fleeting.
I recently chatted to a person who has carpel tunnel syndrome and that got me thinking again…imagine I lost the use of my hands. What about the people in war-torn areas where loss is an everyday occurence. We all take so many things forgranted. Life, love, limbs, friends, jobs, security, relatioships…all of it is so precious and yet do we act accordingly? Hardly.
All too often things we loved are taken from us for whatever reason and its only then that we realise its value. Its only once we’ve lost it that we realise what we really had.
I don’t want this blog to be a sentimental and depressing read, but I ask the readers of this blog to go home tonight and hug your loved ones. Hug your partner, your dog and your cat. Phone your friends overseas and see how they are. Cherish your talents and use each waking moment to celebrate what you have.
Take nothing forgranted.
Have no regrets.

Cat hugged. Wife kissed. Dinner savoured … But monday still sucked. It’s amazing how your mind lets little things get in the way of happiness sometimes. For me it’s the exception tho, not the norm.
Check the blog on Natural Highs too… a list of little things but when considered, things that mean so much…
