  1. They have time to come up with stuff like this. :)

    The Spear  •  11 February 2009 11:33 am
  2. The third one down (the ninja one) is in downtown Seattle. I saw that sign abandoned in that same spot and took a picture of it. Possibly on that same day…

    Angela  •  11 February 2009 12:40 pm
  3. A lot of them don’t even know what their signs say. They ask people to write them for them.

    Paul  •  11 February 2009 1:54 pm
  4. This is a very inhuman stance. Please try and remember they are all photographs of real people.

    Neil  •  11 February 2009 2:24 pm
  5. Such a great series of street candid!

    roentarre  •  11 February 2009 2:43 pm
  6. I’m not sure that homelessness (If that’s what some of these people are) is in any way linked to literacy levels….

    Nic Stage  •  11 February 2009 5:34 pm
  7. do they really need money?

    dorela  •  11 February 2009 5:36 pm
  8. Clearly photoshopped

    Fred Bronzoni  •  11 February 2009 7:11 pm
  9. Its a tough job a least they are creative

    pepper  •  11 February 2009 9:16 pm
  10. Fred Bronzoni

    Clearly photoshopped

    lol

    Fred is clearly a fool

    Boom  •  11 February 2009 9:22 pm
  11. doesn’t look shopped to me.. , looks like they are looking for laughs fred, these are photographs, i see no lighting fractures or what not any way yeah these people are probably excited to be seen on the net more than ashamed of being framed in that situation, i deem it moral for that, .. if they make the right person laugh they might get real money, “if i was loaded and i saw something like that in the loop
(iliveinstlouis) i would for sure hand that dude 20$

    james emery  •  11 February 2009 9:59 pm
  12. I think most people remember they’re real people. They’re just taking a more humorous stance on it. I know if I saw one of these people I’d definitely give them at least a five =]

    Nicole  •  11 February 2009 10:15 pm
  13. I would definitely give them at least a fiver, these guys seem pretty cool

    Barry  •  11 February 2009 10:35 pm
  14. there’s a lot of homeless people (and people who aren’t homeless) who use the ninja sign around nyc. #4 (molested) was sitting on 34th and 8th a few weeks ago. i gave him like $.75, i think. i think a lot of people who don’t live in big cities end up thinking they should empty their pockets to everyone who asks them to. i’ve lived in nyc my whole life and it’s completely impossible to donate every single time, even only the times when the signs are particularly creative. i usually only give $ to homeless people when they have a dog. these people are usually around 8th street. i usually give them cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs as well. but only if they have a dog.

    emily  •  11 February 2009 10:51 pm
  15. shopped….definitely shopped. cant you see that none of the shadows line up at all…. and the text is completely pixellated. nd as for this homelessness you speak of..thats shopped too… people dont really do this kinda thing…obvious hoax

    anthony  •  11 February 2009 11:27 pm
  16. Hey Emily, what a coincidence. I only give to people who have ball pythons. Even if they are drinking and doing drugs, I don´t care, as long as they have a ball python. Here´s where it gets interesting: If they do have a ball python with them out on the streets of NYC, I automatically give them $1,000 worth of rats. It´s funny. Guess you would have to be there…

    islalane  •  11 February 2009 11:30 pm
  17. anthony, you are a weird-ass.
islalane – hm. i think i have a picture of myself with some guy on ave. a with a ball python. but he was not homeless. the reason i only give $ to people with dogs is cause, like, okay so you lost your job, house, and the love of your family, but that’s an innocent dog who deserves to eat kibbles… or at least some nasty kfc. i was almost homeless in burlington, vermont a while ago, and i told my ex-boyfriend, who was there with me at the time, that if we were really going to end up homeless, we were going to have to get a dog somehow. cause then we’d auctomatically get enough money to get a place to live. and if not that, maybe we’d get enough money for some better pot.

    emily  •  11 February 2009 11:48 pm
  18. yes they are real people, but people equals shit.

    Josh the Happy  •  12 February 2009 12:37 am
  19. So Anthony thinks that homeless people could never possibly have a sense of humour. Sheltered internet child needs to get out more and and experience life I think.

    Sarah  •  12 February 2009 2:41 am
  20. I hope, for the love of decency, that whoever snapped these photos saw that their subjects got tipped in the process.

    mv  •  12 February 2009 4:00 am
  21. Um, to Sarah
Anthony was kidding. “as for this homelessness you speak of..thats shopped too… people dont really do this kinda thing”. obviously he knows there are homeless people in the world. he was making fun of the other people who said it was photoshopped, as well as the fact that people like jump in random forums and claim things are photoshopped just to irritate people. guess it worked…

    Olive  •  12 February 2009 4:16 am
  22. haha…i’ve seen the guy in the 4th one down a couple of times now. Midtown NYC. Not photoshopped…very real. And creepy.

  23. haha…i’ve seen the guy in the 4th one down a couple of times now. Midtown NYC. Not photoshopped…very real. And creepy.

  24. That guy with the Ninjas sign if he is in Seattle I have seen him, or someone else ripped off his signage.

    Mik  •  12 February 2009 4:56 am
  25. I believe these people are homeless. yes, they actually have a sense of humor..Wow…imagine that..That dude is from Seattle ..i’ve seen him by pike place market. at least these people ask for money and not steal or rob for it…wow…you Sad people need to have a heart sometime…What if you were homeless and wanted a beer?..you gonna rob a store for it??

    Nana Patekar  •  12 February 2009 11:47 am
  27. People are dying in streets and you guys take their photographs and laugh at them in your ivory towers?

    realist  •  12 February 2009 2:42 pm
  28. Yes we laugh but our ivory towers… Definatly shopped… I mean large towers are to large to be realy…you can clearly see the rough edge around the copypaste and obvious blurring techniques where blending was attempted… No realist u are mistaken, u have been fooled by a clever photoshop nerd…u really should pay more attenition to detail and these things would be more obvious…

    anthony  •  12 February 2009 3:35 pm
  29. realist is obviously photoshopped

    darfur  •  12 February 2009 5:26 pm
  30. Not photoshopped. I see these people around the city

    daniel  •  12 February 2009 6:23 pm
  31. These comments are “shopped”. The photos are real, but some internet guru came through and “cropped and shopped” all these comments to make everyone think people had a response. Wait! How am I writing this if its actually shopped? Whoa. I am so confused. Maybe its just the swamp gas. Or maybe its the countless number of s”smarter-than-thou” Stumblers who happen upon these photos and think they are fake because a bug is not standing in the proper alignment of the sun causing its shadow to point east instead of west. For the record…I hate you. Everyone else is my friend.

    Reid Rainwater  •  12 February 2009 7:33 pm
  32. isn’t that shopped? isn’t that an alien in the background by the way? who were those guys? and where did they come from? did they eat juicy fruits in the morning, such as avocados? is anyone gonna adopt those dudes anytime soon? what will they become when they are reborn?

    yo  •  12 February 2009 8:31 pm
  33. I think these are pretty cool. I know I’m always more likely to give money to someone with a unique sign than just anybody on the street. I’d love if I could give to every homeless person I see, but it’s just not possible. The idea that any of this is shopped is just silly, why would anyone want to ‘shop it any how? What’s the point of making fake funny signs? Is so hard to believe that homeless people could make a joke about their situation? I mean Cancer patients do, and I’m sure most stumblers have seen the picture of the middle eastern man with his shirt that say ‘ 100% Randomly checked at the following airports:’ It makes sense to make jokes about hard and difficult things, it makes you feel stronger and better. What’s wrong with that?

    Sir  •  12 February 2009 9:09 pm
  34. haha I have def seen the guy in the 4th image down…he frequents areas in Midtown NYC near Macys

    AJ  •  12 February 2009 9:56 pm

  36. I think the research one is my cousin, Im not kidding…..

    cowbud  •  13 February 2009 12:07 am
  37. I’ve seen, met and spoken to a couple of these(specifically the alcohol research, the molest guy, and the britney gift girl’s boyfriend – she’d written the sign for him earlier in the day) they’re creative individuals, and some of them are just in a bad luck streak. we’re all going through tough times…

    faithlessfate  •  13 February 2009 12:23 am
  38. I like these people. On the streets but their humor is still strong. The photoshop comments are getting old, too. Ima photoshop the comments so i stop seeing retards. :D

    BuhtNigga  •  13 February 2009 12:41 am
  39. Yes, good for them. I would find it difficult to have a sense of humor if I was homeless…

    mcgregom  •  13 February 2009 12:53 am
  40. i was shopping in Liverpool city centre (UK) i ran into a homeless guy near Lime Street Station he asked me for some change and i told him i honestly had no change this piece of shit spat in my face. needless to say he got no cash but did get knocked out for his trouble

    Andy  •  13 February 2009 3:56 pm
  41. homelessness now seems more appealing. i am strongly considering it now, and i’d love to actually interview a few vagrants. new ambitions ftw. thank you.

    kelsey  •  13 February 2009 9:11 pm
  42. I saw the last guy about a year ago in the Times Square area. Rofl. Good stuff.

  45. In the days when prevailing wisdom was that the Earth was flat, you could offer photographic evidence to the contrary, but if they’d also had Photoshop they would never believe it.

    Matt Spire  •  13 February 2009 11:04 pm
  46. I was walking to work one day and saw a homeless guy whose sign said “homeless and hungry”. yet he was trying to give away a sandwich. When i got to work a couple minutes later, a couple of co-workers were talking about their lunch and one of them said he had given his to a homeless guy. i asked a couple of questions about his lunch and told him that the guy didn’t like it cuz he was trying to give it away.

    staci  •  13 February 2009 11:42 pm
  47. Awesome, this is the first time I see these homeless. I must “thumb it up” and digg.

    Phaoloo  •  14 February 2009 11:32 am
  48. I don’t think anybody thinks the homeless are not creative. Besides, you just took these pictures from some other site anyway. You’re showing the height of non-creativity.

    Billy  •  14 February 2009 6:40 pm
  49. Wow, I saw the 4th guy when I was in NY

    Mike  •  15 February 2009 12:14 am
  50. Wow! You people who say these are shopped! Get a grip! Life is cruel to some, and these guys are real. That they still have a sense of humor at all is amazing. You all sound as if you’d curl up and die. Next time you see one of these guys, don’t give them a dollar, give them a loaf of bread, or a hamburger, or a bag of oranges. You’ll be feeding their bodies, their souls, but *NOT* their habit of choice.

    dizit  •  15 February 2009 1:21 am
  51. dizit: lol

    hehe  •  15 February 2009 1:22 am
  52. Why does somebody ALWAYS have to say a picture is photoshopped? Seriously, do you just LIKE wasting your time making a fool out of yourselves? And honestly, if it WAS photoshopped, why would you want to ruin it for everyone else around you? You aren’t going to get any awards for being an A-hole, so give it up! You’re just ruining peoples’ days!

    Kira.  •  15 February 2009 6:19 am

  59. I live in Key West and have seen several of these in different variations. My ex husband and I used to own/operate a homeless shelter. Do not be deluded—there are some homeless people who truly are homeless due to a glitch in the system. These people “fall between the cracks” for financial aid, career education, etc They would go out and look for work daily and they really tried to better themselves. But most, not all, are just happy to let other people take care of them. About 1% of the homeless are mentally ill, but due to our country’s laws the institutions can only keep them a short time if they are not a danger to themselves or others, which is a sad situation because they truly need tending. But the great majority are just either lazy or they have a high degree of mistrust of the government and society at large for their situation (sometimes with good reason)

    Pookie  •  16 February 2009 11:20 pm
  60. A homeless woman in Vancouver interrupted a conversation between myself and several friends to tell us she was starving and could we help with some money for food. With leftovers in my possession – having just come from a restaurant – i gave her some french fries and the rest of a burger. “Ewww. These are cold!” She said, after halfheartedly tasting a fry. “I thought you were fucking starving,” I said. We had barely turned back around to hear the conclusion of my friend’s story when another crazy Vancouver druggie interrupted for “food money.” “Can I just finish my fucking story!” my friend yelled, which startled a few of the still approaching vagrants thus keeping them at bay for a few minutes. If you ever spend time in Vancouver know this: the bums are harmless, but they are everywhere and are incredibly obnoxious. I say screw those lazy, heroin-filled bastards. A funny sign doesn’t change the fact that they’re a drain on society.

Paul: homeless people can read and write. Don’t be so ignorant yourself.

    RaDe  •  9 June 2009 10:11 pm
  90. All these photos are “shoped” (not shopped, you’ll notice, because I haven’t the time to spell correctly in my condemnation). Everyone knows that all homeless people wear army jackets from the sixties and have small dogs that follow them about nipping at their heels. Also, it is a documented fact that all homeless people have “Untouchable” tattooed on their foreheads. By the way, this “shop” job is so bad they cut out the “callers” that homeless people must hire to announce that they are walking down the street, so that the regular citizens can get away from the area.
    Losers!

    Leah P.  •  10 June 2009 1:32 am
  91. the next person to comment that a post is photoshopped will be hunted down and beaten to death with a new unopened copy of photoshop. The end result will then be photographed and posted online so that the cycle can continue until all of you morons are dead!
